1 Introduction

Welcome to Kirn (“we,” “our,” “us,” or “Kirn”). This Privacy Policy applies to our browser extension ClientSift - E-commerce & DTC Lead Hunter (and related tools by Kirn). We design, develop, and publish digital productivity software, web services, and browser extensions (collectively referred to as “Services” or “Extensions”) specifically engineered for B2B lead generation, brand contact discovery, and website auditing.

We respect your privacy and are committed to maintaining complete transparency regarding data handling. This Privacy Policy outlines how our website and browser extensions operate across supported desktop browsers (including Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome), what information is processed, and our strict commitment to user data protection.

2 Core Privacy Principles

  • Zero Data Brokerage: We never sell, rent, monetize, license, or trade user data or collected business information with third-party data brokers, advertisers, or analytics networks under any circumstances.
  • Publicly Available Business Information: When evaluating online storefronts, brand bios, or social business pages, ClientSift detects publicly published commercial contact details (such as corporate business emails, official brand social handles, and storefront titles). We acknowledge that under applicable data protection laws, publicly available business contact information may still be categorized as personal information; such data is accessed and processed only to provide the extension's user-facing lead discovery, outreach, and site-analysis functionality, is stored solely in your local browser storage, and is never sold, brokered, or transferred to third parties. We do not collect private personal correspondence, login credentials, passwords, or financial records.
  • Local-First Architecture: All collected lead lists, filter criteria, and configuration settings are stored locally in the user's browser via chrome.storage.local. Kirn maintains no remote database, cloud sync, or server-side repositories of your collected leads.
  • Verified Public Sources: If an official business contact touchpoint is not openly visible on the visited webpage, it is strictly flagged as “Not Found”. The extension does not hallucinate, synthesize, or infer private personal data.

3 Exact Browser Permissions & Why They Are Needed

ClientSift is strictly designed for a single-purpose workflow: on-demand commercial contact discovery and site-analysis on public e-commerce and DTC storefronts. In strict adherence to the Google Chrome Web Store and Microsoft Edge Add-ons Least Privilege Policies, ClientSift requests only the absolute minimum permissions required for operation:

"storage"
Enables the extension to store discovered lead records, user filtering preferences, and exported lead history locally within the user's browser using chrome.storage.local. No data is transferred to remote servers.
"activeTab"
Grants temporary, user-invoked access to the currently active web page only when the user explicitly triggers the extension icon or clicks a scan button. It reads the public DOM content of that specific tab to locate public contact touchpoints.
"host_permissions" (https://*/*)
Required because independent e-commerce brands, Shopify storefronts, WooCommerce installations, and DTC companies operate across thousands of arbitrary custom domain names (rather than a predefined centralized domain list). Restricting host access to a predefined list would prevent the advertised on-demand site-analysis functionality from working across arbitrary storefronts. It is also used to securely verify license key activations with Gumroad's API (api.gumroad.com). ClientSift does not run background web crawlers, intercept network traffic, or track browsing history.

Our extensions do not request or use invasive permissions such as broad unconstrained background monitoring, browsing history, tabs (persistent tracking), webRequest, cookies, or identity APIs.

4 Chrome Web Store & Microsoft Edge Add-ons User Data Compliance

ClientSift fully adheres to the Google Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies and Microsoft Edge Add-ons Store Policies, specifically regarding the Limited Use Requirements for User Data:

  1. Single Purpose: The use and transfer of information received from browser APIs adhere strictly to the Google Chrome Web Store and Microsoft Edge Add-ons Developer Data Policies. The extension's data access is strictly confined to providing the user-facing feature of discovering public business contact information on active storefront pages.
  2. No Advertising Use: We do not use, transfer, or license user data or discovered contact information to serve personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertising, nor do we build advertising profiles.
  3. No Lending or Credit Use: Collected information is never used, directly or indirectly, to determine creditworthiness or for consumer lending purposes.
  4. No Human Access or Data Transfer: We do not transfer user data to third-party data brokers or ad networks. We do not allow humans to read user data unless explicitly requested by you for technical troubleshooting or required by applicable law.

5 Data Ownership, Retention & Deletion

Because ClientSift operates on a local-first architecture within your browser:

  • Full User Ownership: All data extracted and saved during your sessions belongs 100% to you. You can export your leads at any time into clean Excel (.xlsx) spreadsheets directly to your local file system.
  • Local Data Deletion: You can permanently delete any saved leads, search history, or preferences at any moment by clicking the in-app “Clear” control (or “Clear All History” control) directly inside the extension interface. This immediately purges the extension's local storage database (chrome.storage.local).
  • Extension Uninstallation: When you remove or uninstall ClientSift from Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, all local extension storage is automatically and permanently purged by your browser. Exported Excel (.xlsx) spreadsheets already saved to your device remain safely under your own file system control because they are outside the extension's storage and no longer controlled by the extension.
  • No Server-Side Retention: Because Kirn operates on a zero-remote-database model, Kirn retains zero records, zero logs of your visited domains, and zero copies of your lead extractions on any central server.

6 Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Our services and extensions are intended for business professionals, freelance service providers, and business owners. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from individuals under the age of 13.

7 Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may periodically update this Privacy Policy to reflect technical improvements or legal standards. Any updates will be published on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.
